Two women convicted of benefit fraud at Belfast court - 29 July 2008

Two women were convicted at Belfast Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.
Barbara Ann Lee (49) of Rockview Street, Belfast claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £5,247 while failing to declare she was working. She was fined £250 and ordered to pay court costs of £34.
Sandy Ramsey (42) of Wheatfield Gardens, Belfast, claimed Income Support totalling £5,595 while failing to declare she was working. She was fined £200 and ordered to pay court costs of £28.
Both are also required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
This brings to 256 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
