Two convicted of benefit fraud at Armagh Court - 18 July 2008
Two people were convicted at Armagh Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.
John Poland (60) of Arthurs Villas, Armagh, claimed Job Seekers Allowance totalling £614 while failing to declare he was working. He was given two years conditional discharge and ordered to pay court costs of £61.
Joseph Donaghy (59) of Beechhill Crescent, Tandragee claimed Disability Living Allowance totalling £2,446 while failing to declare he was working. He was given two years conditional discharge and ordered to pay court costs of £76.
Both are also required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
This brings to 242 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
