Newtownards woman convicted of benefit fraud - 20 May 2008
A woman was convicted at Newtownards Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits she was not entitled to.
Shadae Carlile (23) of Blenheim Drive, Newtownards, claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £2,153 while failing to declare she was working. She was given twelve months conditional discharge.
Miss Carlile is also required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
This brings to 161 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
