Two convicted of benefit fraud at Belfast court
Two women were convicted at Belfast Magistrates’ Court yesterday for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.
Tanya Emery (20) of Liffey Court, Belfast claimed Income Support totalling £4,978 while failing to declare she was working. She was fined £250.
Wilma McConnell (30) of Fernhill Grove, Belfast claimed Income Support totalling £1,772 while failing to declare she was working. She was fined £125.
Both women are also required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
This brings to 263 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
