Belfast woman convicted of benefit fraud - 12 May 2008
A woman was convicted at Newtownards Magistrates’ Court yesterday for claiming benefits she was not entitled to.
Lyndsey Fisher (26), of Ardenwood, Ravenhill Avenue, Belfast, claimed Income Support totaling £4,572 while failing to declare she was working full time. She was given a conditional discharge and ordered to pay court costs of £46. The offences occurred between August 2004 and December 2005.
Miss Fisher will also have to repay the money she wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
This brings to 149 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
