Banbridge man convicted of benefit fraud - 12 June 2008
A Banbridge man was convicted at Newry Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.
Bendan Cathal McGale (53) of Bronte Park, Banbridge claimed Income Support and Incapacity Benefit totalling £354 while failing to declare he was working. He was fined £500.
Mr McGale is also required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
This brings to 195 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
