Ballynahinch man convicted of benefit fraud - 08 April 2008
A man was convicted at Downpatrick Magistrates’ Court yesterday for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.
William Burrows (43), of Blacks Lane, Ballynahinch, claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £14,305 while failing to declare he had capital. He was fined £900 and ordered to pay court costs of £80.
Mr Burrows has since repaid in full to the Social Security Agency the money he wrongfully obtained.
This brings to 107 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
